Lovers of music and literature alike will be treated to an evening of poetry and song in the Cary Arts Center auditorium. The “Poetry & Pop” concert will feature Turkoise, a DC-based pop group, performing a selection of Turkey’s best-known poems in song. This highly sought after six-piece ensemble will bring a rich literary repertoire to life, including pieces by luminaries like Nâzım Hikmet and Sabahattin Ali.

Many Turkish pop and rock songs released by artists like Sezen Aksu, Cem Karaca and Zülfü Livaneli were, before being set to music, widely read and beloved poems. Although Turkoise will perform these poems-turned-songs in Turkish, all concert attendees will receive a complimentary print program with English translations of a selection of the original poems included in the program.

$25 regular/$15 students and children under age 18

Purchase your tickets online on eTix or at the Cary Theater Box Office (Tuesday-Friday 11 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at 122 E. Chatham St. Cary, NC 27511)
