Please join us at Turk Evi (Turkish House) for commemorate Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the father of all Turkish People and the founder of the Secular and Modern Republic of Turkey, on Tuesday November 10, at 8:00pm.
In the short span of his life, he achieved the rebirth of a nation. He died in Istanbul on November 10th, 1938, at 9:05 a.m. He was 57 years old. Today he lives on minds and hearts of Turkish people. He represents a brave history, and the future pride of Turkey. Ataturk's body rests today in his mausoleum, called the Anitkabir, in Ankara.
In Turkey, people pay tribute to Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, with nationwide memorial services on November 10th of every year. During the day, which marks the remembering of Ataturk's death, the entire country stops all activities for two minutes at 9:05 a.m., the moment of his death. This includes all vehicular and pedestrian traffic as well.
The beginning of the silence is announced by blowing sirens, car horns, as well as train, ship and factory whistles. Flags are lowered to half-staff and the national anthem is played at ceremonies at schools, military bases, government offices, and factories. Programs on Ataturk's life and accomplishments are broadcast by the Turkish media all day long.
He was and he will always be in our hearts.
You can bring a red or/and white flowers to place at Ataturk Corner.
Program will start with National Anthems and we will have one minute's silence. After that we will show "Ataturk Belgeseli".
We will give you a cd/book about "Ataturk and Turkish Republic" as a memory of this day before you leave.
Program will take almost an hour and we would be happy to see our kids to join us.
We would like to see you all tomorrow to say ATATURK that we will always remember him.
