Deniz Ender 

Deniz Ender was born in Ankara and raised in Izmir, Turkey.  After graduation from Aegean University with a degree on German Language and Literature, she got married and came to USA in 1986.  She completed her Masters degree in Library and Information Sciences in 1992.  Deniz is working as medical librarian for 10 years.

She volunteered as the coordinator and  teacher at ATA-NC Turkish School for several years.  Other volunteer activities include ATA-NC Turkish Cooking Club and ATA-NC Knit for Little Feet program.  Deniz also volunteers managing the ATA-NC Library that is located at Turk Evi (Turkish House) and online library. 

She is married and has three sons, Timur (20), Kenan (18) and Alper (14).


Buket Aydemir

Buket Aydemir was born and raised in Ankara, Turkey. After obtaining her BS in Electrical Engineering (EE) from METU, Ankara, Turkey, she came to U.S.A. in 1982. She completed her Masters in EE and enrolled in an EE PhD program.  Buket has been working in telecommunications industry for more than 25 years.

In addition, she has been participating in several volunteer activities, many of which involve sharing her knowledge of Turkish Culture and Language such as teaching Turkish to adults and visiting area school to introduce students to Turkish culture and history. She is a vibrant story teller who also creates her own stories with cultural motives.

During her 17 years in NC, she fulfilled many responsibilities in the American Turkish Association of North Carolina (ATA-NC). Buket was one of the initiators of the Turkish school and Nazim Hikmet Poetry Festival.

She is married and has two sons, Deniz (19) and Arman (12).
